Curious And Curiouser
Traffic to the blog suddenly spiked tonight and I'm at a loss for an explanation. Most of the hits are coming from this Wikipedia article on SMA that I, uh, edited last year to include myself as a reference. It was a lame attempt at self-promotion, but it seems to be paying off now. Damned if I can figure out why, though. Maybe there was something on the Discovery Channel.

The family on Extreme Makeover Home Edition (ABC) tonight has two young girls who have SMA. I went to look it up and ended up at Wikipedia... I'd bet that is where most of your extra traffic is coming from. :)

We found the link to your site on Wikipedia as well; we were interested because Extreme Home Makeover tonight is highlighting a family with children who have SMA.

Tonight's Extreme Home Makeover featured a family who had two kids with SMA. Maybe that's it.

I watched Extreme Makeover Home Edition and there were two girls who had SMA in one family. I just wanted to know more about it and that is how I found your blog on Wikipedia.

It probably has to do with the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition show that was on tonight. BTW, I have a sister, now 46, with what is probably SMA...

Tonight's Extreme Home Makeover featured two girls who have SMA. I bet that it why you have had increased traffic to your sight. Wikipedia leads from SMA to your homepage. Thank you for the additional information about SMA.

I would think that as people are more educated to SMA they are doing more research and you happen to be a wonderful ray of hope to folks who have just been told that their child more than likely may not live past the age of 2. I think but won't swear to it that the same article is how I found your blog oh so many months ago when I was researching SMA.
There was a stroll and walk to help raise money for MDA happening this past weekend or is it this weekend coming? well anyway what ever reason I hope you get many more readers!
Smiles! Laura

Hi Mark,
I think it might have to do with an episode about the Ackers family on ABC's Extreme Makeover last night.

I think the sudden spike in traffic to your blog is due to the showing last evening of a family with 2 afflicted children on the Extreme Makeover Home Edition program.

An episode of Extreme Makeover (in which a community builds a house for a deserving family) aired last evening. Two children in the existing two-story home had SMA so they build a 1 story home with many amenities. Maybe people are just interested in reading about the disease. Good luck to you!

Now Wikipedia will be spiking from the 19th floor. ;-)

Maybe the medical students are checking you out

Here's the deal. Extreme Makeover, Home Edition featured a makeover for a family with two kids with SMA, so when we search for SMA, we get Wikipedia and then we find you and then we click on your blog. This was last night. So you got a big spike.
