Mode Of Transportation

My brother, the professor, is in need of a new car. I believe he's narrowed it down to two favorites of the Bay Area liberal elites: the Mini Cooper and the Toyota Prius. I'm trying to nudge him towards the Prius for a few reasons:

  • He'll save more on gas (the cost of which will only go up, especially in California)
  • It's better suited for highway driving
  • It's roomier
The Mini certainly has flair, but I don't think it's ideal for a daily commute between Santa Cruz and Monterey. Thoughts?

is he a pipe-smoking , berkie wearing east coast transplanted west coast professor? if he still smokes the pipe, i think either the triumph spitfire or the mg midget might be an attractive option. the red i think would would be the best match for his skin tones...

I just bought a new Subaru Impreza Outback Sport-- very cool, but probably not for Scott. There is a new small Volvo coming out next year. Knowing your family's predisposition, he should probably check out a new VW Rabbit or Jetta. Oh, got it-- a beetle convertible.
