Live from Grovers Mill

I want to thank those of you who sent me Friendster and Tribe invitations. I'll post my thoughts on them in a few days.

I listened to the original radio broadcast of War of the Worlds while at work today. It's still a great piece of storytelling, even though the science is a bit questionable (rockets travel from Mars to Earth in minutes!). I can't imagine that a stunt like this would work in today's age of media sophistication, but I envy the fun that Welles and his crew must have had in putting this together. And the 1950s film version is great too. Speaking of which, what are some suggestions for a Halloween movie marathon. I have to admit that I have a special fondness for the film Pitch Black. Despite having Vin Diesel in the cast, it's still a scary and even somewhat original story. Others?

Sadly, I think such a stunt as Welles' would work today. Look at someone like Bill O'Reilly. Fox News, last I heard, had some pretty impressive ratings.

People actually watch his show and actually buy his books. Given those harsh realities, aliens rocketing here from Mars sounds pretty logical...

Yeah, it could work. I remember something similar being done only a few years ago on network television, albeit in black and white. Very fun!

Movie suggestions? Cliched as this may be, why, the Exorcist, of course!

The Exorcist is NOT scary. At all. If you want a truly scary movie, rent the orginial version of Texas Chain Shaw Massacre. Now that's scary. Or maybe you should dress up and go out....wait, you're scary enough looking already! (Hey! I am your sister!)

Btw, yes, all my friends love your blog. I mentioned it on mine, now everyone reads it. Thanks to me for bringing you more fans.

Well, on my young (preteen at the time) impressionable and imaginative mind, it was very scary at the time, and still very fun to revisit.

Very NOT scary but still the perfect Halloween film? In my opinion, The Crow. Timeless!

This is for jon,
Maybe if you listen to Bill O'Reilly's, show you might broaden your mine and take some weight off the LEFT side of your brain
